ROBERT HAROLD GARRISON

VIRGINIA BEACH- Robert Harold Garrison, 81, died in his home on July 11, 2012. Bob Garrison was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. In 1948 he graduated from Des Moines Tech and began his printing career at Associated Litho. The following year he married his high school sweetheart, Maryann. Bob stayed with Associated for 15 years, achieving journeyman status and becoming one of the finest pressmen in the Midwest. In 1963, he left Iowa and joined the widely acclaimed printing firm of Teagle and Little, in beautiful downtown Norfolk, Virginia. Teagle and Little quickly recognized his printing skills, dedication and leadership potential, and in the mid 1960's promoted Bob to the position of Production/Plant Manager. For the next two and a half decades he helped guide the company through an amazing era of growth and prosperity. Then in 1990, after nearly 42 years in the printing business (80 with overtime), Bob decided to pass on the reins of leadership and ease his way into retirement. During this period of transition, Bob brought his wealth of knowledge and experience into estimating and served as a source of wisdom and inspiration to all. Bob retired on June 25, 1993 from Teagle and Little Printing Company after 30 years of service. He was a member of Avalon Church of Christ in Virginia Beach.

He was predeceased by his parents, Harold H. Garrison and Doris Allen Garrison; and a sister, Carolyn Garrison. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Maryann Elizabeth Garrison; three children, Ronald Garrison and wife, Paula, Cheryl Dunn and husband, Wayne, all of Virginia Beach, and Johanna Garrison of North Carolina; six grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a sister, Deloris Lewis of Chesapeake.

A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 11:00am in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk with Minister Jimmy Bennett and Pastor Scott Mullen presiding.
