Dolly J. (Houchin) Milam, 92, of Virginia Beach, died at her daughter's residence in Anderson, Indiana. Dolly was born March 27, 1920 in Cass, Pocahontas County, West Virginia to Elmer John and Mattie (Beverage) Houchin. Mrs. Milam was an active member in her church, Calvary Assembly of God in Virginia Beach. Among her many achievement's Mrs. Milam was a seamstress at a bridal shop and during WWII worked as a secretary for the War Department at the Pentagon. Mrs. Milam and her husband also had a successful business selling stainless steel waterless cookware. She was preceded in death by her husband J. Herbert Milam, her parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister. She is survived by her daughters Carla (Steve) Bowser of Anderson and Chris (Jim) Evans of Portsmouth, VA; her sister Ruby Phillips of Clarksville, VA; 5 grandchildren Autumn Elsworth, Lesley Elsworth, Colin Bowser; James Evans Jr., and Ashley Evans; 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The visitation will be held Sunday, August 5, 2012 from 5:00 pm to 7:00pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach, VA. The service will be held Monday, August 6, 2012 at 10:00 am at Calvary Assembly of God, 4925 Providence Road, Virginia Beach, VA. There will be a graveside following in Nansemond Suffolk Cemetery, 1421 Kings Fork Road, Suffolk, VA. The family will then be holding a reception at 1:00 pm at Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church, 3488 Godwin Blvd., Suffolk, VA.
