James "Jim" Polivka, 86, of Shadyside, Ohio died Monday, October 26, 2009 in Liza's Place Valley Hospice Care Center South, Wheeling WV.
Jim was born August 8, 1923 in Shadyside, Ohio, a son of the late Joseph and Rose Stratka Polivka.
He was retired from the former North American Coal Company's #3 Mine, Dilles Bottom, OH, a member of the Lincoln Avenue United Methodist Church Shadyside, American Legion Post #521 Shadyside, Masonic Lodge #724 F & AM Shadyside, Bridgeport Eagles and a WWII Army Veteran.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his wife Ruth Ann Emery Polivka,
Surviving are two daughters; Beth Ann (Joseph) Maskivish of Shadyside and Brenda Jarrett of Shadyside, three grandchildren; Joseph (Lisa) Maskivish and their children Talan James and Breanna Catherine of Gilbert, IL, Michael (Brandi) Jarrett and Matthew (Erica) Jarrett and families all of Shadyside, Ohio, Sisters-in-law, Mary Elizabeth "Blondie Trembly
of Shadyside and Sandra Kay Wright of Medina, OH.
Family and friends received Thursday October 29, 2009 from 2-4p.m. & 6-8p.m. at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3900 Central Avenue Shadyside, Ohio where services will be held at 11a.m. Friday with Reverend Randy Weaver officiating.
Interment follows in Powhatan Cemetery Powhatan Point, Ohio.
Masonic services will be held at 7p.m. Thursday in the funeral home followed by American Legion Services at 7:30p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lincoln Avenue United Methodist Church or Liza's Place Valley Hospice Care Center South, Wheeling, WV.
