MOORE, Katherine E., 89, of Wheeling, died Friday, October 30, 2009, at home.
She was born May 14, 1920 in Wheeling to the late Charles and Bertha Singer Gruber. She worked for Wheeling National Bank and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elm Grove. She was a member of the Women's Club of Elm Grove and the Auxiliary of the Sisters of St. Joseph. She was also a member of The Knights of Columbus Carroll Ladies, the Wheeling Park Ladies Golf Association, and the Elm Grove Lanes bowling League.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Herman W. Moore Jr., and her three brothers Charles Gruber, Wilbur Gruber, and Harry Byerly.
Surviving are her three daughters, Candace (Richard) Aaron of Summerfield, FL, Diane (Mark) Litchney of Surf City, NC, and Maureen Owens of Warrenton, VA; two sons, Herman Moore III (Gail) of North Venice, FL, and Robert (Carole) Moore of Alpharetta, GA; two sisters in law, Eleanor Gruber and Beverly (Bob) Ochsenbein; eighteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received 2-4 and 6-9 pm Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Elm Grove, where a rosary service will be held at 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 9:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic in Elm Grove. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary cemetery in Wheeling.
