HANNIG, Anna Pappa, 95, formerly of Bethlehem, Wheeling WV, died Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at Forest Hills Retirement Community. Born in Wheeling WV on July 21, 1914, Anna was the daughter of the late Wasyl and Mary Okruch Pappa. She was a retired employee of M. Marsh and Sons, Inc of Wheeling and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Clairsville OH. A lifelong resident of Wheeling, Anna was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great Amma, Sister, Aunt and Friend. This was a gentle, kind and caring woman who was steadfast in her belief in the importance in education for her children. She married her "best friend" and she looked out for her children first and always. She will be greatly missed by everyone who loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph R. Hannig in 1980; her son, Stephen E. Hannig in 2002; her great granddaughter, Katelyn Ann Bonenberger in 2004; four brothers, John, Pete, William, and Thomas Pappa; three sisters, Catherine Wojtaszek, Mary Pappa and Eva Cummins. Surviving are one son, John A. Hannig and his wife Christine of Wheeling; one daughter, Carol A. Hannig CSJ of Wheeling; her daughter in law, Kathleen M. Hannig of Wheeling; five grandchildren, Kimberly A. Bonenberger and her husband Dan of Ann Arbor, MI, J. Michael Hannig and his wife Connie of Fort Collins, CO, T.J. Hannig and his wife Kristi of Fort Mill, SC, Amy C. Mehl and her husband Zach of Boardman OH, Mary Beth Hannig and Fiance Brian Kwak of Lakeview NY; three great grandchildren, Joseph and Nina Bonenberger and Camden Hannig; her brother, Stephen Pappa of Wheeling; one sister, Eleanor Synowiec of Tracy's Landing MD; her sister in law, Joann R. Smith of Wheeling; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger Street, Elm Grove on Sunday, November 8, 2009 from 1-5 and 7-9 pm. Vigil services will be held at 4:30 pm at the funeral home. Friends will be received on Monday from 9:30 until the time of Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, St.Clairsville OH. Entombment will follow at Mt Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Wheeling WV.
