Jack Rodwell Main

Norfolk – Jack Rodwell Main, 81, passed away March 28, 2009. Born in Virginia, he was the son of the late Joseph and Evelyn Main.

Jack retired from the National Weather Service after 40 years of dedicated service as a meteorologist, spending more than 20 years of that time at sea on Coast Guard Cutters in the North Atlantic Weather Patrol. He was a HAM Radio Operator for over 57 years whose call sign was "W4YCZ". He was a member of ARRL, DXCC, USS Wisconsin Radio Club, and QCWA. He was a member of First Church of God, Anderson. Jack was an U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 25 years, Sally Main; two sons, Brian Main and his wife Susan, and David Main and his wife Penny, all of Norfolk; three grandchildren, Sarah, Chase, and Hunter; and two sisters, Nancy Buck and her husband Ed of Wayne, PA, and Sue Swindell and her husband Bob of Radford, VA. Jack was preceded in death by his first wife of 25 years, Eva Porter Main.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at First Church of God, Anderson with Pastor Dennis McQuown officiating. Altmeyer Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, is handling the arrangements. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the First Church of God, Anderson General Fund.
